Ludmila and Edgar

My name is Edgar. I joined Anastasia through the internet in September 2006, and had received many initial letters. I was intrigued by one woman from Moldova named Ludmila and had briefly corresponded with her. Before becoming too attached, I wanted to meet her in person, so both could determine if there could be physical chemistry. Ludmila was a simple country girl, and I decided to meet her. I arrived in Chisinau in the evening of Saturday, December 9 2006. Although the agency was closed on Sunday, Serghei, the owner of the agency met me.

Serghei called Ludmila on a Sunday morning, and she agreed to meet at a restaurant and spent nice time together. That evening, Serghei called and invited me and Ludmila to a field trip with some other couples. Ludmila decided to ask for the day off of work. After the field trip, we parted ways, but exchanged telephone numbers and I left the next morning.

We corresponded for the next several months, and spoke by phone, sometimes through one of Ludmila’s friends, who could translate proficiently, sometimes through this agency. I wanted Ludmila to get a travel visa, so she could visit me as well, so she could make an informed decision whether of not she would like Fort Worth, Texas. When I spoke to the translator, she said, “Ludmila loves you very much. She believes that she would be denied a travel visa, and that this would hurt her chances of ultimately securing a fiancee visa.” I began to look into what was needed for a fiancee visa.

In May 2007, I made another trip to Chisinau. I brought the forms needed for the initial application for a fiancee visa. Ludmila wanted to get together in Moldova, but I insisted on waiting until she actually came to Texas. I even thought that she could still change her mind. We enjoyed each other’s company. We had pictures made of the two of us to help prove that we had met in person in the last year. We came to understand each other a little more. Ludmila wanted me to email her every day and call her every weekend. I did not realize how important these things were to her.

Then came the long wait. I submitted the paperwork to USCIS in June. In November, Ludmila received the packet from the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest. There was so much paperwork, and some of it was difficult to complete, due to the differences in customs between Moldova and America, and due to the fact that she had also lived and worked in Romania. Ludmila was discouraged, because she did not know whether she would receive a fiancee visa. I sent her copies of phone records and emails, sent her the documents showing financial responsibility, and sent her copies of his June submission. The interview in Bucharest was January 8, 2008. Ludmila took an overnight bus, arriving for her physical exam in the morning and appointment in the afternoon. She was asked many questions about me , which she answered confidently having studied the paperwork I had sent her. She showed phone records and emails, but was missing one thing – a certified copy of mine divorce papers. I had submitted a copy of the papers, but not a certified copy. The U.S. embassy told Ludmila that when she received a certified copy, she should make a second appointment.

She called me with the bad news. I immediately went to the county courthouse, got a certified copy and mailed it. Ludmila received it on January 15, and was given a new appointment on January 17. This time she had the first appointment of the afternoon, which lasted 5 minutes. She was given her fiancee visa and called me with the good news. On January 20, I came to Moldova to bring Ludmila back to Texas. I met the family and all of the friends, especially those who helped her in the difficult times. I was christened into the Orthodox Church, so they could easily get together in America.

January 28, 2008 was the day Ludmila entered the United States. Immediately, me and Ludmila began to plan the wedding, because lent was fast approaching. The wedding took place on February 17, 2008 in a Romanian Orthodox Church. The ceremony was performed in Romanian, about 100 people attended, and the celebration afterwards lasted until midnight. Now it is the end of Mach 2008. Ludmila is making new friends as well as keeping in touch with old ones. She is learning a little more English every day. She has never driven a car before, and it is difficult to travel in Texas without one. But she is looking forward to the future, because she loves me intensely, and I love her with equal passion.
